Where do you find the most active magnet fishers?
1. The Netherlands

Magnet fishing has been around for a while. In 2012 it started as a hype, but the hobby still remains popular. Each summer the number of visitors on our website skyrockets again. Magnet fishing is still very popular in the Netherlands. On Facebook there is a very large group with Dutch magnet fishers. Locations frequented by magnet fishers: Groningen, Friesland, Gouda, Den Helder and the province Brabant.
2. Belgium
In Belgium the number of magnet fishers also starts to grow. There has been a steady rise since 2014. Belgium is also an excellent country for this hobby, with its many large cities, plenty of waterways and the Polders region where fierce battling took place. These are the most popular regions: Ghent and Antwerp. Belgian magnet fishers also have a nice Facebook group.
3. Europe

When we take a look at Europe we also see that interest in magnet fishing has increased during the last few years.
In the summer of 2015 there was a large rise in the number of searches for magnet fishing. This means magnet fishing also gains more popularity here. On Facebook there are wonderful stories of magnet fishers who pulled up beautiful finds out of the water. These are not only bikes or coins, but often old finds that have been lying in the water for several hundreds of years. We found ten countries that have large groups of active magnet fishers: Norway, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Scotland, Germany, France, Slovakia, Sweden, Denmark and Poland.
4. Worldwide

Big countries outside of Europe also show interest in magnet fishing. In Australia, Canada, the US and Russia people practise this wonderful hobby. The hobby is relatively new here but we think magnet fishing will grow to be a sport with worldwide recognition. As it is such an amazing way to spend free time!

We sell a large amount of fishing magnets from our wide collection. We know that a lot of grandparents and fathers want to buy a fishing magnet for their (grand)daughter or (grand)son. So that is why we would like to highlight our 55 kg fishing magnet. It is the perfect children’s fishing magnet.

This children’s fishing magnet looks small and cute
The 55 kg fishing magnet has quite a small size and includes a M6 eye bolt. The magnet has a diameter of ca. 3 cm and is entirely made of neodymium. The magnet may look small and cute, but it can lift a lot of objects out of the water.
Perfect for small finds
This fishing magnet is relatively harmless and perfectly suited to retrieve smaller finds out of the water. These mainly consist of coins, which are the main found objects with a fishing magnet.

We think it is important to learn from magnet fishers who often go searching. Social media are an excellent source for getting tips on magnet fishing. You will find a wealth of information on Facebook. There are a couple of big groups in the Netherlands and Belgium. Regarding the scarcity of the available information, we have two important tips for you.
Fishing magnet tip no. 1: Always tighten the eye bolt or eye nut firmly.
Practically every fishing magnet we deliver includes an eye nut or eye bolt to attach the fishing magnet to you fishing magnet rope. Small models have a M6 or M8. Bigger models have up to M10. Several of our customers gave us the advice to not only firmly tighten the eye nut or eye bolt, but to also secure it with Loctite. An important issue, since a lot of fishing magnets go lost because they aren’t secured well enough to the eye nut or eye bolt.
Fishing magnet tip no. 2: a combined structure of fishing magnets
Another nice tip we found online was to make a structure of different fishing magnets. On forums, but also on Facebook groups, we saw that several magnet fishers had created a horizontal or triangular structure with three 130 kg magnets, making their surface larger and capable of pulling heavier finds out of the water.
We notice that magnet fishing is a hot topic on social media and that magnet fishers are highly creative people. Keep it up!

Which fishing magnet should I buy to go magnet fishing?
Which magnet is used for magnet fishing?
A block magnet has several advantages. It protects the magnet and pulls in all directions. Block magnets are mostly a bit more expensive compared to a normal magnet, but it also has more advantages. Experienced magnet fishers often tell us they love fishing with a block magnet.
Our range has 90, 200, 250, 300, 450, 750 kilo block magnets.
Most magnets in our selection are pot magnets. We offer pot magnets with a hole or a thread. Pot magnets with a thread often lose less pulling force because they have no hole in the middle. Pot magnets only pull from the bottom side, but have a large surface. They don’t have any protective casing, enabling optimal use of their pulling force. You can buy pot magnets even on a small budget.
Our range has 55, 75, 110, 130, 175, 240, 300, 360, 400, 500, 600 and 800 kilo pot magnets.
Double-sided magnets?
These kind of magnets offer plenty advantages. The outer edge is made of steel and serves as a protective casing for the magnet. The magnet can be placed horizontally or vertically. Two eye bolts are included. This double-sided fishing magnet pulls from both sides and is made of neodymium.
Our range has 250 and 800 kilo magnets. Later this year a 500 and 600 kilo magnet will be added to our collection. More info on this later.
NEW: We now also have smaller ones: 200 kg and 240 kg and 1200 kg!!
Which magnet would we recommend you to use for magnet fishing?
The Fishing magnet webshop is convinced that every fishing magnet has its own advantages. We have talked to several magnet fishers and they all have different opinions. The best way to find out which fishing magnet is the best fit for you is to test it on your own when you go magnet fishing.
